Privacy Policy
Solavello ("Solavello," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and safeguard information when you use the Solavello mobile application (the "App").
This Policy contains separate sections for EU/EEA/UK/Switzerland residents and non-EU users, where required by law.

2. What Solavello Does (High-Level)
Solavello is designed for solo travelers to:
- Check in at a place you are staying (e.g., hostel/hotel/guesthouse)
- Share a short Traveler's Plan
- See nearby travelers while you are using the App (approximately within 100 meters)
- Send a Wave (a notification-based heads-up)
- Use safety features such as blocking and reporting
- Save optional Memories/selfies you choose to upload
- Use invitation features (an "invitation tree / travel circle") where you may see shared check-in status of people connected to you
Solavello has no in-app messaging (no DMs) and no matching.
3. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide, information generated by your use of the App, and limited technical data.
A) Account Information
- Travel nickname
- Profile photo (optional)
- Optional profile details: gender, nationality, language, self-introduction (optional)
- Sign in with Apple identifier (a unique token/identifier used to authenticate your account)
- If Apple provides it and you choose to share it: name and/or email (optional; depends on your Apple settings)
B) Location and Check-In Information
- Approximate real-time location while you are using the App (with your device permission)
- Used to display nearby travelers and nearby activity
- We do not perform continuous background location tracking
- Check-in data you create (e.g., a check-in record tied to a place and time), which may include:
- A place label (e.g., accommodation name or area) and time of check-in
- An approximate location reference used to support nearby features and safety/abuse prevention
C) User Content and Interactions
- Traveler's Plan posts you create
- Likes on Traveler's Plans (sent and received)
- Waves (sent and received)
- Profile views / interaction signals necessary to operate related lists in the App
- Memories/selfies you choose to upload or save in the App (optional)
D) Safety and Trust Information
- Block actions (who you block)
- Report submissions (who/what you report, and the content or context you include)
- Records related to safety enforcement (e.g., review outcomes, limited audit logs)
E) Technical and Diagnostic Data
- Device and app information such as device type, OS version, app version, language, and time zone
- Crash logs and performance diagnostics
- Basic analytics (events such as feature usage) in an aggregated or pseudonymous form where possible
F) Subscription and Purchase Information
Subscriptions and purchases are handled through Apple and may be processed through RevenueCat for subscription status management.
- We receive subscription status and entitlement information (e.g., active/inactive, plan type)
- We do not store your full payment card details
4. How We Use Your Information
We use information to operate, maintain, and improve Solavello, including to:
1. Provide core functionality
- Authenticate you (Sign in with Apple)
- Enable check-ins and Traveler's Plan posting
- Display nearby travelers and relevant nearby activity while you use the App
- Show interactions such as likes, waves, and profile views
2. Deliver notifications
- Send Wave notifications and other necessary service notifications (if you enable notifications)
3. Enable safety features
- Allow blocking and reporting
- Investigate and prevent abuse, harassment, spam, fraud, or misuse
4. Operate subscriptions
- Verify entitlements and provide paid features
- Handle customer support for billing-related issues (without accessing your full payment details)
5. Improve and secure the App
- Debug, monitor stability, analyze performance
- Maintain the integrity and security of the service
We do not sell your personal information.
5. How We Share Information
We share information only as needed to provide the App, comply with law, and keep users safe.
A) Service Providers (Processors)
We may use third-party providers to process data on our behalf, such as:
- Google Firebase (authentication, database/storage, cloud functions, analytics/crash diagnostics, and related infrastructure)
- RevenueCat (subscription status and entitlement management)
- Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store billing, and Apple Push Notification service)
These providers process data under their own terms and, where applicable, contractual safeguards.
B) Legal and Safety
We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to:
- Comply with applicable laws, lawful requests, or legal processes
- Protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the public, or Solavello
- Prevent or investigate wrongdoing
C) Business Changes
If Solavello is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law and notice where required.
6. Data Retention
We retain information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above:
- Account data: retained while your account is active
- Traveler's Plans, likes, waves, and interactions: retained while your account is active and deleted upon account deletion (subject to limited exceptions below)
- Memories/selfies: retained while your account is active and deleted upon account deletion (or earlier if you delete them in the App, if available)
- Safety records (block/report): retained only as long as necessary to review and enforce safety rules, resolve disputes, and prevent repeat abuse
- Logs/diagnostics/analytics: typically retained up to 24 months, unless a shorter period is used
- Financial records: retained as required by law
We may remove or anonymize data for inactive accounts after 24+ months, where permitted.
7. Your Choices and Controls
You can:
- Edit or update profile information in the App (where available)
- Enable/disable notifications in your device settings
- Enable/disable location permissions in your device settings
- Use block and report tools for safety
- Request access or deletion via support (support@solavelloapp.com)
- Initiate account deletion within the App (where available)
Important: If you disable location permissions, nearby features may not work.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information, including:
- HTTPS encryption in transit
- Authentication and access controls
- Database security rules and infrastructure protections
No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.
9. International Data Transfers
Solavello is operated from Japan and uses service providers that may process data in the United States and other countries (e.g., Google/Firebase, RevenueCat, Apple services).
Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and industry-standard protections.
10. Children's Privacy
Solavello is intended for users 18 years and older.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn a minor has created an account, we will delete it.

We process personal data under one or more of these bases:
- Article 6(1)(b) (Contract): to provide and operate the App you request
- Article 6(1)(f) (Legitimate Interests): to secure the App, prevent abuse, and improve reliability
- Article 6(1)(c) (Legal Obligation): to comply with applicable laws
- Article 6(1)(a) (Consent): where applicable, for certain optional features such as enabling push notifications (you can withdraw via device settings)
12. Your GDPR Rights
You may have the right to:
- Access your data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict or object to processing
- Request data portability
- Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)

Non-EU Residents (Global Section)
If you are not an EU/EEA/UK/Switzerland resident, Solavello still follows the privacy practices described in this Policy.

- Operate the App and provide core features (check-in, nearby display, Traveler's Plans, waves, likes)
- Provide safety features (block/report)
- Manage subscriptions (via Apple/RevenueCat)
- Maintain security and improve performance

You can request access or deletion by contacting support@solavelloapp.com, and/or by using in-app account deletion where available.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and may provide additional notice in the App or on our website as required by law.
